Mellisa is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet! She is super talented when it comes to creating the most beautiful colors…everything from platinum blondes to head turning fantasy shades.
Mellisa joined our team back in February of 2020 and has been wowing guests (and us) with her amazing color work ever since!
Get to know a little more about her below…
What inspired you to become a hair stylist?
My Sister. Being the only other girl in my family of six, I always looked up to her. She attended Cosmetology in high school, and although she didn’t stick with it, she was always into beauty and makeup, which inspired me!
Who has been your biggest influence?
In the hair industry, it would be Rickey “HairGod” Zito, Guy Tang, Larissa Love and Phillip Wolff. They all have such an individual style and method to their craft. Each are admirable in their own way.
What are YOU known for or want to be known for?
My capability in Balayage and Fantasy Colors. I would like to continue that. I’m always looking to learn everything I can and perfect my craft.
What is your biggest challenge in the industry today?
Unrealistic expectations! As a hair professional, my job is to give my guests not only beautiful hair, but healthy hair too. People often forget that black to blonde doesn’t happen in one appointment.
Favorite hair trend and why?
Balayage! It is effortlessly beautiful, low maintenance and completely versatile. It’s not only for blondes, but for all colors.
Favorite hair decade and why?
For men, the 1920’s. Mens cuts were so trendy and clean. For women, the hair of the 1960’s. The beehives, the layers and short pixies just looked so visually pleasing.
Why Tease Salon?
Why not Tease Salon! I feel so blessed to be a part of this salon team. I come to work and it doesn’t feel like work. I love what I do, and this place is the icing on the cake!
In my spare time I like to:
Cook, bake, make social media content, interior design, read, garden, create art and spend time with my pets. I like to do it all!
One thing most people don’t know about me is:
I’m a self-proclaimed Master Chef. My family and friends question if I’m in the right profession because they love my cooking so much! 🙂
